Face masks not mandatory in Sri Lanka from Today

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Health has announced that wearing masks will not be mandatory from Today(10).

The Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena, has stated that it is not mandatory to wear facemasks indoors and outdoors to avoid the coronavirus epidemic from tomorrow.

However, it is preferable that persons having respiratory symptoms wear a face mask, the Director General of Health Services advised.

This direction does not prevent persons wearing face masks according to their wish.

The statement issued by the Director General of Health Services further states that performing of COVID-19 PCR test / Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) should not be done as a screening test from Today.
