INSEE Contributes to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – INSEE Cement, Sri Lanka’s leading cement manufacturer and supplier, has responded to a humanitarian aid request madeby the National Hospital of Sri Lanka’s (NHSL), Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). As a result, INSEE Cement was able to provide the complete list of urgently needed essential medicines and equipment, including noradrenaline vials, CRRT kits, blood gas cartridges, sensor cards, nasogastric tubes, urinary catheters, 10ml syringes, sterile surgical gloves, examination gloves, and suction jars. The medical supplies provided by INSEE Cement to the MICU at the NHSL will assist the facility to continue operations in the immediate future.

The medicalsupplies were officially handed over to the NHSLby Nandana Ekenayake, Chairman/ Chief Executive Officer of INSEE Cement together with Chandana Nanayakkara Head of External Affairs of INSEE Cement at a small, informal ceremony to commemorate the event, along with Dr.Dilshan Priyankara, Dr.Sajeewaka, and Mrs. Shiromi- Nurse-in-charge from the NHSL.

“We’re honoured to know that the NHSL has confidence in us to request our assistance in this instance,” saidNandanaEkenayake, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of INSEE Cement.“We quickly went to work procuring the necessary materials after learning of the facility’s difficulties, which was no simple effort in the current environment. We are grateful, however, that we were able to get enough supplies, which have now been delivered to the hospital. We are glad to have been able to contribute to the support of saving lives and ensure that patients in critical condition have adequate access to lifesaving equipment and facilities as a company that strives to ‘Build for life.’ We look forward to doing our best wherever possible too, to ensure that Sri Lanka emerges stronger from the present crisis.”

INSEE Cement is committed to the well-being of communities and the current situation in the country and has initiated several social and environmental sustainability programs. During the height of the global pandemic, the Company providedadequate patient beds while also launching a comprehensive program to donate essential supplies to hospitals and frontline workers.Furthermore, INSEE Cement assisted the construction of a 150-bed hospital unit in collaboration with the National Hospital of Kandy by donating cement and providing the necessary technical assistance for the construction and completion of the project.More Cement donationsand assistance were also rendered to other hospitals, including the National Hospital for Respiratory Diseases in Welisara, Ragama, the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, and the Divulapitiya Base Hospital, in order to help them expand to accommodate the increased patient load.
