(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –The World Bank appreciated the Sri Lankan government’s program to revive the country’s economy, the State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe said.
During a special discussion held yesterday (03) with the State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe, Faris Hadad-Zervos, World Bank Country Director for Sri Lanka, Maldives and Nepal has said the Sri Lankan government is demonstrating its commitment by taking various measures to restore the collapsed economy.
He emphasized that the World Bank is closely monitoring the situation and encouraged the government to continue on its path of further governance reforms, a comprehensive debt restructuring and progress on an IMF program.
Secretary to the Treasury, Mahinda Siriwardena, Director General / Department of External Resources, Ajith Abeysekera, Director General / Department of Fiscal Policy, Dr. Kapila Senanayake and other officials participated in the discussion.
