(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha stressed that the dates decided for holding the GCE Advanced Level examination and Grade Five Scholarship examination will not be changed.
The Ministry of Education has planned to hold the Grade Five Scholarship examination on December 18 and the GCE A-level exam from January 23 to February 17 next year.
The Minister of Education said there were a lot of requests from candidates appearing for the second and third time to postpone the A-level examination that was scheduled to be held in December and public representatives in the Parliament also expressed their support.
He also said that after the release of the A-Level results, the students who wanted to take the exam again had a short period of three months and a week to prepare for it.
The Minister emphasized that the relevant postponement of the GCE A/L exam was made based on the data obtained from a survey regarding the various problematic situations that have arisen in the country due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the completion of the curriculum in the nine provinces.
The Minister of Education said that taking into consideration all these facts, the examination was planned to be held on the currently fixed dates and no request has been received from any party for an extension again.
