The President calls for a full report on Kandakadu incident

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – President Ranil Wickramasinghe has issued a notice to provide a complete report regarding the incident at the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center.

The Presidential Media Division says the President informed this following a discussion with Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.

The President has also asked to take necessary measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

President Wickremesinghe, who is on an official visit to Egypt, has called Justice Minister Wijayadasa Rajapakshe over the phone and given the necessary instructions.

During a clash between two groups of people detained at the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center yesterday (06), 05 people were injured and about 50 people have escaped. The police and the army have been asked for help as the unrest continues and operations have been started to find the people who fled.

The origin of this conflict was said to be an argument between two people. According to reports, a large number of people divided into two sides with the two of them and then it escalated into a clash even attacking each other with rocks and clubs.
