(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera says that three coal ships are scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on the 5th, 9th and 16th of January.
At a press conference held Yesterday (27), Minister Wijesekera said they are they are trying to bring 07 more shipments of coal.
The Minister also said that the proposal related to increasing the electricity bill will be submitted to the Cabinet on January 2.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that if the electricity bill is not increased, the people will have to get used to the daily power cuts of few hours.
Further commenting on this, the Minister said although some have accused that the electricity bill will be increased to compensate for the losses incurred by the Electricity Board in the past, if such a decision is taken, the price will have to be increased significantly.
