(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles says that the Department of Immigration and Emigration has made arrangements to introduce an online application system for the public to get passports more easily.
Applicants who submit their applications online can provide their fingerprints at the sub-office of the Department of Registration of Persons affiliated to 51 Divisional Secretariat offices throughout the island.
Minister Tiran Alles says the issuance of passports online will be started today (15) at the Homagama Divisional Secretariat under the patronage of President Ranil Wickramasinghe.
The Minister says if necessary, the applicants will also be able to come and hand over applications in person to the Immigration Department and obtain passports after the new program is launched.
Minister of Public Security said that the one-day service of issuing passports will also be done as usual and under this new program, after applying for a passport, the passport will be delivered to the home by a courier service within three days.
