President requests striking railway workers to return to work

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – President Maithripala Sirisena has requested all workers engaging in the railway strike action to report for work, taking into consideration the inconvenience caused to students who are to sit for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examinations, as well as the inconvenience experienced by the general commuters.

Sri Lanka requests global toxic pollution reduction at UNEA session

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The 3rd Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) held from 4th to 6th December 2017, unanimously approved two important resolutions co-sponsored by Sri Lanka that called upon the global community to reduce toxic pollution sources that impact negatively on the environment, oceans and human health.

The Government of Canada extends support to Agriculture Cooperatives in Kilinochchi through UNDP and FAO

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –H.E David McKinnon, High Commissioner of Canada to Sri Lanka made an official visit to the Thiruvaiyaru Educated Youth Project of Agriculture Products Consumers Cooperative Society (TEYCS) recently in Kilinochchi, where he handed over the “Fruits Collection, Storage, Value Addition, Processing and Sales Centre” to the community.
