Kankasanthurai – Point Pedro road, which was closed for 27 years will be open to public, says the President in Jaffna

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –President Maithripala Sirisena says the AB-21 road Kankasanthurai to Point Pedro, which had been closed since June 20, 1990, will be opened for the public.

First super blue moon lunar eclipse after 152 years

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –For the first time since 1866, three lunar events will coincide on the same day – A blood moon total lunar eclipse, a super moon and a blue moon will be visible to us on 31st January 2018 at the moon rise in the eastern horizon after 6.15 p.m. – Professor in Physics, and Director, Astronomy and Space Science Unit of the University of Colombo Prof. Chandana Jayaratne said.

Literary works foster greater understanding and reconciliation: Media Minister

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera said that literary works in Sinhala, Tamil and English fostered greater understanding and reconciliation between Sri Lankans. Addressing the 2017 Fairway National Literary Award in Galle at the Fairway Literary Festival, the Minister said this was the only National Literary Awards competition which accommodated all three of the main languages used in Sri Lanka.
