Eastern Echo starts petroleum surveys

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Eastern Echo DMCC, subsidiary of a major oilfield services company in Schlumberger,Sunday commenced collecting petroleum data on multi-client basis, to exploit indigenous fuel resources in selected offshore areas of the island. Earlier, the Petroleum Resources Development (PRDS) Minister Arjuna Ranatunga signed an agreement-with Eastern Echo DMCC in this regard.

Jupiter’s Great Red Spot reveals signs of water: NASA

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –NASA scientists peering deep inside Jupiter’s Great Red Spot — a storm that has been raging on the planet for over 350 years — have detected signs of water above the planet’s deepest clouds. The pressure of the water combined with their measurements of another oxygen-bearing gas, carbon monoxide, imply that Jupiter has two to nine times more oxygen than the Sun, researchers said.
