EU recognizes Sri Lanka’s progress in protecting and enhancing human rights

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The European Union recognizing the progress made by Sri Lanka in protecting and enhancing human rights and fundamental freedoms in the country has urged the government to address issues relating to religious and ethnic hatred and to maintain zero tolerance for hate speech and crimes.

Sri Lanka tourist arrivals up by 6.2 percent in May 2018 surpassing one million in first 5 months

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lanka’s tourist arrivals rose 6.2 percent in May this year compared to the same period last year, surpassing one million arrivals in the first five months of 2018, the data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) showed.

President proposes a multidisciplinary program to make Sri Lanka self-sufficient in milk

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –President Maithripala Sirisena has given instructions to the relevant authorities to prepare a draft containing a multidisciplinary program to make Sri Lanka self-sufficient in liquid milk production by the year 2025 by strengthening the local dairy industry.
