(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – A bill to ban the pernicious practice of bottom trawling, which will affect thousands of Sri Lankans and Indians fishing in the sea between Sri Lanka and India, is to be passed by the Sri Lankan Parliament by March end, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian, M. A. Sumanthiran, told The New Indian Express on Monday (12).

(CHENNAI, LANKAPUVATH) – Lashing out at the political parties demanding the retrieval of Katchatheevu from Sri Lanka, Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, Pon Radhakrishnan, asserted that retrieving the islet will not solve the Indian fishermen issue. Those parties that put forth such a demand were only imagining things and showed that they lacked understanding on the subject, he charged, the Deccan Chronicle reported.
