(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The World Habitat Day- 2017 national celebration themed ‘Sarilana Niwahanaka Urumaya Samata’ was held yesterday (2nd Oct.) at Sanath Jayasuriya Stadium in Matara, under the patronage of Ministers Mangala Samaraweera and Sajith Premadasa.
At this occasion, 1, 000 Samata Sewana loans, 100 title deeds, 100 Sonduru Piyasa loan cheques, 50 Samata Sewana funds, 25 Viru Sumithura funds, 135 Shilpa Saviya certificates, 100 carpenter tool kits, and a house for an athlete were also presented on this occasion.
Addressing the occasion, Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera said that the government expects an income of Rs. 2.2 trillion in 2018.
According to the minister an amount of Rs. 1.7 trillion has to be paid as foreign debt in the same year and 84 percent of this amount is the debt taken by the previous regime.
