(GERMANY, LANKAPUVATH) –UP to 50 passengers were injured – six severely – after a passenger train collided with a freight train near Dusseldorf in Germany.
Hundreds were trapped on the passenger train after the crash in Meerbusch at around 8pm on Tuesday.
It happened between Krefeld and Neuss – around 20 miles from the border with the Netherlands.
Dozens of firefighters were called but it is reported the broken overhead line made it difficult to reach passengers.
AFP initially reported that 50 were injured, but German paper Bild has since reported the number hurt as 47.
One shocked student, among 150 passengers, described an “emergency stop” and being thrown into other commuters, reported the Rheinische Post.
