(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Deputy General Secretary of the United National Party and Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam says the purpose of bringing a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is to prevent the government taking legal action against the corruption, fraud and murders committed during the previous regime.
The Minister points out that this unsuccessful attempt is made to wash the sins of the joint opposition.
Minister Kariyawasam said no one in the UNP would support the no-confidence motion against PM and he doesn’t believe there are any impaired brains in the party.
The Minister further said those who love the party as well as the country and those who want to punish the thieves will not support this no-confidence motion.
The Minister stressed that the no-confidence motion will be definitely defeated if it is tabled in parliament.
