(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili resigned on Wednesday due to disagreements with Leader of the ruling party Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Under the Georgian constitution, the whole cabinet will have to resign along with the Prime Minister.
Expressing his views on the issue the resigned Prime Minister has said to the media, “We’ve had some disagreements with the leader of the ruling party and I think this is the moment now when the leader of the party should be given an opportunity to form a new cabinet.”
Giorgi Kvirikashvili (50) was appointed Prime Minister since 2015.
