Education Ministry begins filling principal vacancies at schools

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The Ministry of Education has has taken steps to fill principal vacancies in 302 national schools in the country.

The relevant interviews will be held from the 16th of October to the 10th of November at the Ministry of Education. The invitation letters have already been sent to the principals, the Ministry said.

During the recent past, vacancies have not been fulfilled properly and therefore many national schools have vacancies for qualifying principals. In addition some principals have been working in the same school for a long period.

Accordingly, recognizing appointment of qualified principals as an urgent need to uplift the administration and management of national schools, the Ministry of Education with the approval of the Public Services Commission has taken steps to fill the principal vacancies in 302 national schools and transfer the principals who have been in service at the same school for more than eight years.

Accordingly, the interviews to fill the positions will be held from October 16 to November 10.

The Ministry of Education aims to place the principals who will be recruited through the interviews, in National Schools before end of 2018.
