(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The Finance Ministry headed by new Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has decided to reduce prices of fuel with immediate effect from midnight yesterday(01).
Accordingly, the price of a 92 Octane petrol liter will be reduced by 10 rupees while the price of auto diesel liter will be reduced by 7 rupees.
The price of a liter of 92 Octane petrol which was 155 rupees will be 145 rupees and the price of a liter of diesel will be reduced from Rs. 123 rupees to 116 rupees.
In addition, the Value Added Tax (VAT) has been reduced for several other commodities, the Finance Ministry says.
