‘Navy Sampath’ arrested for abduction of 11 youths further remanded

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – A Sri Lankan court today further remanded a former navy intelligence officer, who is the main suspect in the abduction and disappearance of 11 youths.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake ordered former Navy Lieutenant Commander Chandana Prasad Hettiarachchi aka ‘Navy Sampath’ to be remanded until the December 5th when he was produced before the court today (21).

Hettiarachchi is the main suspect in the abduction and disappearance of 11 youths in Colombo and suburban areas during 2008-2009.

He was also wanted in connection with the 2006 slaying of Tamil National Alliance parliamentarian Nadarajah Raviraj.
