(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The Colombo High Court has set dates to hear the case against MP Hirunika Premachandra over the abduction a youth from Dematagoda area in December 2015.
When the case was taken up before Colombo High Court today, Judge Shashi Mahendran ordered to hear the case on March 12 and 13. The court also ordered the witnesses to appear before the court on that day.
The MP and eight of her supporters were alleged of abducting a man identified as Amila Priyanga Amarasinghe on the 15th of December 2015 at a store in Dematagoda and taken in a ‘Defender’ vehicle belongs to the MP and assaulting him over a domestic dispute.
Ms. Premachandra has admitted that she had sent her personal ‘Defender’ vehicle with her supporters to the shop in Dematagoda where the man was employed in order to resolve the dispute.
All the suspects in the case except UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra have pled guilty and on November 06, the Colombo High Court sentenced them to 2 years rigorous imprisonment suspended for 12 years.
