(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Cabinet of Ministers at its first meeting in the new year has decided to present the 2019 budget on the 5th of March.
The 1st cabinet meeting of the New Year was held yesterday under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat.
Minister Mangala Samaraweera presented the relevant cabinet paper and it was decided to submit the Appropriation Bill to the cabinet on Monday, 7th January. Afterwards it will be presented to Parliament.
This year’s budget will include proposals to equally develop the cities and villages while uplifting economic conditions and living standards of the public.
Meanwhile, Minister Rajitha Senaratne said a people-friendly budget that will fulfill people’s hopes will be presented in March.
