(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara arrived at the Government Analyst’s Department this morning to provide his voice samples for the investigations into the alleged plot to assassinate the President and former defense Secretary.
IGP Jayasundera has been summoned to the Government Analyst’s Department to obtain his voice samples to test whether his voice is in the audio recordings provided by Namal Kumara to the Criminal Investigation Department on the alleged conspiracy.
Namal Kumara, the director of the Anti-Corruption Force, a local activist group, in September 2018 revealed that former director of the Terrorist Investigations Division DIG Nalaka de Silva discussed with him an alleged plot to kill President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
He has handed over the recording of the telephone conversations related to the alleged plot to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) last year.
The Colombo Fort Magistrate has ordered the CID to obtain samples of voice submitted by Namal Kumara to the Government Analyst to verify the voice on the telephone conversations.
Accordingly, Namal Kumara and former DIG Nalaka Silva have already given their voice samples to the Government Analyst’s Department in September last year.
It has been reported that today is the first time the IGP has been informed to appear before the Government Analyst’s Department regarding the investigations on the conspiracy.
