(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –A Search and Rescue Swift Water Training Programme coordinated by the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD) is set to get underway at the Rapid Action Boat Squadron’s (RABS) Headquarters at Gangewadiya in Eluwankulam, Puttalam today.
The programme is scheduled to be held over a span of 08 days in two phases.
A-PAD Japan has provided 06 International Expert Trainers for the programme, who will be partnering with Sri Lankan Navy RABS Search and Rescue instructors. Meanwhile, briefing instructors on the training programme was conducted at the RABS Headquarters yesterday. Apart from the Navy’s Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Unit (4RU) personnel, members from the Army, Air Force, Police, Volunteer Organizations and civilians are also expected to take part in the programme.
