17 killed in New Delhi hotel fire

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The fire broke out at Hotel Arpit Palace on Gurudwara Road in Karol Bagh at 4:35 a.m; Delhi government cancels its 4th anniversary celebration
Seventeen people were killed and six injured in a fire at a central Delhi hotel at 4:35 a.m. on Tuesday.

Twenty-four fire tenders attended the scene.

Delhi Home Minister Satyendar Jain visited Hotel Arpit Palace on Gurudwara Road in Karol Bagh and ordered a magisterial inquiry after spotting building violations. He asked the fire department to inspect similar buildings in the area.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced the cancellation of the Delhi government’s fourth anniversary celebration on Tuesday. A concert by Vishal Dadlani was to take place in the evening.
