Malwatte Chapter confers honorary title on Minister Sajith Premadasa

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Sangha Council led by the Chief Prelate of Malwatte Chapter yesterday conferred the honorary title ‘Sasana Deepana Abhimani Sri Lanka Janaranjana’ on Minister Sajith Premadasa and Deputy Leader of the UNP in recognition of his service to the nation and the Buddha Sasana.

The Chief Prelate of Malwathu Chapter Most Venerable Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera presented the scroll containing the Honorary Title to the Minister at the Mangala Uposithagaraya at Malwathu Maha Viharaya in Kandy.

President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe attended the ceremony.

The Maha Sangha led by the Anunayaka Theras of Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters chanted Seth Pirith and invoked blessings on Minister Sajith Premadasa.

The Anunayake of Malwathu Chapter Venerable Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera and the Anunayake of Asgiri Chapter Venerable Wendaruwe Upali Thera delivered Anusasana on the occasion.

Anunayake of the Malwatte chapter Ven. Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera explained the reasons the Malwatte Chapter decided to bestow the honorary title on Minister Premadasa.

Expressing his views on the occasion Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the honor would further strengthen the Minister’s programs for the Buddhism and country.

Addressing the gathering Minister Sajith Premadasa said that he hopes to continue with his social service and the services to the Buddha Sasana in broader manner in future.

The Maha Sangha, Parliamentarians, and family members were present on the occasion.
