Police investigate underground bunker found in a house in Jaffna

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Security forces have commenced investigations into an underground bunker discovered during search operations in Jaffna.

The bunker was found in a special operation carried out by the police Special Task Force (STF) officers and the police.

The underground bunker had been built inside a three-storey house. It is 25 meters in height and 5 feet in width. The bunker has a secure door covered with metal sheets and was provided with electricity, the police said.

A person has been arrested in connection with the incident and is being interrogated.

The owner of the house is a businessman in Colombo and he is currently away from the house, the police said.

The police are conducting operations in search of the businessman. Jaffna police are conducting further investigations.
