(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – State Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Dilip Wedaarachchi and a delegation from Sri Lanka are participating in an expert workshop on construction of multi-purpose fisheries harbors commenced in Korea yesterday.
The expert workshop commenced yesterday (June 23) with the participation of a number of countries will be held in Seoul and Busan, Korea until the 29th of this month.
As a result of the state minister’s visit to Korea in 2016, Korea has agreed to construct four multipurpose fisheries harbors in Sri Lanka.
The concept of constructing multipurpose fishing harbors was introduced to Sri Lanka by Minister of State Wedaarachchi.
The multipurpose fishery harbors are planned to be established in Chalai, Delft, Madakal and Udappuwa with a view to realizing fisheries, tourism and commercial purposes.
Along with the Minister, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development (Development) MPNM Wickremasinghe, Engineering Manager of the Fisheries Harbor Corporation W Nishantha Wickramasuriya and Private Secretary to the Minister of State, GM Dinesh Kumara are participating in the first session of the workshop.
