(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived at Kansai International Airport, Japan for G20 Summit. He has reached Swissotel Nankai hotel and members of the Indian community welcomed him by chanting ‘Modi Modi’.
PM Modi will hold bilateral meetings at the G20 summit and will also participate in a few plurilateral meetings.
The Group of Twenty (G 20) summit will take place from June 27 to 29 and 19 countries along with the European Union (EU) will participate in the same. The theme of the summit is human-centred future society.
Heads of government from G20 member states come together face-to-face and communicate about significant global economic and financial issues in the summit. Light will be thrown on various other global issues such as development, climate change, health, counter-terrorism, migration etc.
Talking about his participation, Narendra Modi had tweeted, “Various global issues including women empowerment, technology and achieving SDGs will be discussed. There would also be meetings with world leaders.”
In a press conference, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar had said, “For the 6th time, PM Narendra Modi will be participating in the G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan from June 27 to 29,” Raveesh Kumar said.
Former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu will be India’s Sherpa at the G20 summit.
