(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka Police have arrested 3,879 drivers during a month-long special operation launched island wide earlier this month to nab people driving under the influence.
The Police Media Spokesman Office stated that 177 drunk drivers were arrested during the past 24 hours.
Special operations to arrest drunk drivers was launched on the 5th of this month to minimize road accidents.
The fine for driving under the influence of alcohol has been increased to Rs. 25,000.
