(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Attorney General has filed indictments in the Rathupaswala case at the Gampaha High Court.
The Chief Justice had appointed a trial-at-bar consisting High Court Judges Menaka Wijesundara (President), Nimal Ranaweera and Nishantha Hapuarachchi for the Rathupaswala case which is to be tried in the Gampaha High Court.
Soldiers opened fire on protesters who were demanding clean drinking water in Rathupaswala on August 1, 2013.
As a result of the shooting three civilians were killed and several others were injured.
