(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka condemns the drone attacks targeting Abqaiq oil processing facility and Khurais oil field in Saudi Arabia on 14 September, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement.
“As a country that has suffered from terrorism for thirty years, Sri Lanka remains committed to addressing this scourge in all its forms and manifestations,” the statement said.
“Stability in the Middle East is pivotal for the global economy and Sri Lanka hopes that the parties concerned would soon resolve their issues through peaceful negotiations and dialogue.”
Saudi Arabia has accused Iran of carrying out the drone attacks, in which 18 drones and seven cruise missiles hit an oil field and processing facilities at Abqaiq and Khurais in eastern Saudi Arabia.
