(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The final results of the Presidential election is not expected on November 17, the National Elections Commission said today.
Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said that since the ballot papers are long this time around with 35 candidates contesting the Presidential election, the final results may get delayed.
Deshapriya told reporters today that the final results will be expected on November 18, two days after the election.
The Presidential election will be held on November 16 and Deshapriya said that with a record number of candidates contesting the polls the cost for the election is high.
