(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested Avant Garde Maritime Services Chairman Nissanka Yapa Senadhipathi, who has returned to the island this morning (17) after receiving treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for some time.
The suspect was arrested by the CID upon his arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake for violating the foreign travel ban issued by the Galle Magistrate’s Court in connection with the Avant Garde case.
He is also due to be produced before the special three-judge High Court at 2.00 pm today for the hearing of the Avant Garde case, a senior CID official said.
The Attorney General in July ordered the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) to arrest Avant Garde Maritime Services Chairman Nissanka Yapa Senadhipathi and seven others in connection with the operation of a floating armory in the Galle Port and produce before the court.
