New traffic plan around Katunayake airport to ease traffic congestion

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited has decided to implement a new traffic plan to ease traffic congestion in and around the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and surrounding areas.

The new traffic plan was rehearsed in the last few days and was a success.

All arrivals and departures can enter the airport after the security inspection at the main entrance.

Road sign boards indicate how to access the arrival and departure terminals and Security forces provide necessary guidance.

All vehicles coming from Minuwangoda and heading towards Minuwangoda can use the Katunayake – Minuwangoda road as before.

The existing entrance to the arrival terminal for vehicles arriving from Katunayake – Minuwangoda road will be closed. These vehicles too have to access the airport from the main entrance.

According to the new arrangement, all vehicles heading towards the airport from Colombo, Negombo, and Minuwangoda, should use the main entrance.
