(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Eight new power sets imported from China will be added to the railway service next year and four of them will be added in January, State Minister of Railways CB Ratnayake said.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday (26) the Minister said in addition, new technologies are being introduced to expedite ticket issuance and electronic sign boards would be installed in all stations to display the timetable.
The Minister said that the begging and trading in the train will be banned and all restaurants will be converted into Hela Bojun Halls operated under the Ministry of Agriculture.
He said that necessary steps have been taken to prevent the delay of the train and an electronic timetable board will also be installed in the Railway Department for immediate knowledge of the delay.
