The Global Fund to grant 20 million euros to improve Sri Lanka’s health sector

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Global Fund has agreed to provide 20 million euros for health projects in 2020-2022 to improve the quality and health indicators of Sri Lanka’s health sector.

This was revealed at a meeting held between the Project Director of the Global Fund Pubudu de Zoysa and Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi at the Ministry of Health.

For nearly 18 years since 2003, the Global Fund has provided Sri Lanka with financial assistance of Euro 18.3 million to control tuberculosis, malaria and STDs in the island.

The Global Fund also supports the projects implemented by the Ministry of Health to control and eliminate tuberculosis, malaria and STDs from 2019-2021.

The project will provide financial assistance to the Ministry of Health to eradicate HIV and AIDS by 2025 and to eliminate Tuberculosis by 2030.
