Appointments for the medical examination for driver’s license can be made online from today

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The National Transport Medical Institute (NMTI) has launched an Internet application to facilitate reservations of dates and times for obtaining medical certificates for driving licenses.

In order to avoid inconveniences and delays experienced by the public when obtaining medical reports for driving licenses under the present system, the Ministry of Transport Management, on a concept of the President, has introduced an online system for the applicants to make an appointment through the internet prior to visiting the NMTI.

Applicant will be notified of their scheduled appointment time and date via a SMS message and the office will send a copy to the inquiry counter. Accordingly, the applicants who made appointments will be directed to the designated priority counters.

Minister of Transport Services Mahinda Amaraweera officially introduced the system on the 22nd January and it will be implemented from today (27 January).

Applicants can visit the National Transport Medical Institute website at www.ntmi.lk and access the “ONLINE APPOINTMENT SYSTEM” to make an appointment for a medical examination.

This program will be implemented at the NMTI Head office in Nugegoda and will be extended to other branches in the future. According to the earlier system, people had to travel to the National Transport Medical Institute head office in Nugegoda to make an appointment.
