(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lanka’s Bureau of Foreign Employment and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait have facilitated the return of another group of female domestic workers from Kuwait to the island.
A group of 45 Sri Lankan women who were subjected to various hardships while serving as domestic aides in Kuwait returned to the island on a SriLankan Airlines flight this morning.
The women, who are residents of different parts of the country, reported to the Sri Lankan embassy due to various reasons including harassment by their employers, not being paid for work, and illness.
The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) provided the bus fare to these women who had been brought to the island to go home.
