Attorney General summoned to Presidential Commission inquiring political victimization today

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Attorney General Dappula de Livera is due to appear before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Political Victimization today.

A spokesman said the notice was issued to the Attorney General to appear before the Presidential Commission at 01.30 pm.

Former Commander of Sri Lanka Navy, Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda has lodged a complaint with the Presidential Commission alleging that the Criminal Investigation Department has filed a case at the Permanent High Court at Bar alleging him of complicity in the abduction and forced disappearance of 11 youths in 2008 as a political reprisal.

The former Navy Commander gave evidence before the Presidential Commission regarding the complaint on Tuesday (18) and the Attorney General was summoned on the basis of the evidence given by him.

The Attorney General has been instructed to present the documents pertaining to the case against Admiral Karannagoda.
