Watawala Tea supports nation-wide hospitals and Sri Lanka Navy with donations of Ceylon Tea

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Watawala Tea, Sri Lanka’s No. 1 tea brand by the diversified conglomerate Sunshine Holdings PLC, donated Ceylon tea packs for the consumption of patients and staff members in hospitals dealing with COVID-19 around the country. So far, the company has catered to the requirements of:

  • National Hospital Colombo
  • Negambo District General Hospital
  • Chillaw District General Hospital
  • Gampaha District General Hospital
  • Kaluthara District General Hospital
  • Ragama Teaching Hospital
  • Karapitiya Teaching Hospital
  • Kurunagala Teaching Hospital
  • Homagama Base Hospital

Furthermore, Watawala Tea also handed over 200,000 tea bags to the Sri Lanka Navy, to be distributed among Navy personnel. The donation was recently handed over to Commodore K.T.M. Perera, Commanding Officer of Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force and SLNS ‘Lanka’, at the Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force Headquarters in Welisara. The donation was a timely initiative by Watawala Tea at a time when several Navy personnel unfortunately contracted COVID-19 during a quarantine mission, which was carried out to help contain the spread of the virus in Sri Lanka.

Watawala Tea’s contribution, which comprised of Zesta tea bags and Watawala Haritha tea bags, is intended to provide a familiar source of comfort to all those directly affected by this pandemic as well as brave and selfless healthcare workers who are driving the front-line defence to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Sri Lanka.
