(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Registrar General’s Department has taken steps to remove the marital status of parents on the new digital birth certificates.
According to Registrar General NC Vithanage, the decision was taken after considering the social problems faced by many children.
In addition, he further said, that the new birth certificate will be issued to all citizens of the country stating that they are Sri Lankans.
The new digital birth certificate is scheduled to be issued after the Parliamentary Election.
