WHO agrees to provide COVID-19 vaccine to 20% of Sri Lanka’s population – Health Ministry

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The World Health Organization (WHO) has agreed to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to 20% of the country’s population, a WHO official has said according to the Ministry of Health.

This was stated by Dr Razia Pendse, Resident Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Sri Lanka at a discussion held at the Ministry of Health today (09) under the patronage of the Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi.

The Minister also took steps to appoint a special committee to look into the matters of funding, determining who gets the vaccine, management of relevant physical resources, obtaining information, filing of information etc.

Minister of State Channa Jayasumana, Secretary to the Ministry of Health Major General Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe and Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena were also present at the discussion.
