(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 719 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Saturday.
Among the positive cases identified Saturday, 697 are associates of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster, 18 from the prison cluster and 04 arrivals from overseas including one each from Kuwait, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, and Ethiopia.
According to the Epidemiology Unit report at 9 pm Saturday, a total of 52,313 COVID-19 cases have been reported and 7,311 infected patients are being treated at hospitals. Another 641 individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.
Sri Lanka reported one more death raising the total to 256 and 44,746 patients have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
A total of 1,459,691 PCR tests have been conducted to detect COVID-19 infected persons from February 18 to January 15, according to the Health Promotion Bureau.
