Sri Lanka reports three COVID-19 deaths Tuesday, toll rises to 273

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lanka confirmed three deaths on Tuesday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 273, according to health authorities.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed the following death caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 273 by now.

01. The deceased is a 68 year old male from Aranayake area. After being diagnosed with Covid infection while receiving treatment at Mawanella Base Hospital, he was transferred to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital where he died on January 18. The cause of death was mentioned as respiratory infection exacerbated by COVID-19 pneumonia.

02. The deceased is a 48 year old female from Colombo-06. After being diagnosed with Covid infection while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo, she was transferred to the Neville Fernando Hospital where he died on January 17. The cause of death was a heart attack associated with COVID-19.

03. The deceased is a 70 year old female from Maligawatte. She has died on January 14 while receiving treatment at the Neville Fernando Hospital. The cause of death was a failure of the respiratory system associated with COVID-19.
