(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that rapid antigen testing will be carried out on all persons leaving the Western Province over the long weekend.
Accordingly, these antibody tests will be carried out at 11 locations covering all roads leading out of the Western Province today (27) and tomorrow (28).
In addition, rapid antigen tests are carried out at random at certain places and on buses and this is not done with the sole intention of inconveniencing the public, said DIG Ajith Rohana.
He pointed out that these measures are being taken to reduce the spread of the Covid virus to other provinces and to restrict the movement of people in the Western Province.
In the last few weeks, more than 500 cases of Covid-19 have been reported daily in the Western Province.
Meanwhile, health officials are urging the public to restrict unwanted travel to prevent the spread of the Covid virus in Sri Lanka.
