Sri Lanka immunizes over 100,000 against COVID-19

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The Epidemiology Unit of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health states that more than 100,000 people in the country have been vaccinated under the COVID-19 immunization program.

Accordingly, the total number of vaccines given in the country is 118,767.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 23,217 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 today (2) alone.

The unit said that 32,539 people were vaccinated on the second day and 21,329 on the third day under the country’s vaccination program.

On the first day of the vaccination program in the country, the health sector was able to vaccinate 5,286 people, including frontline health workers and members of the security forces.

India donated 500,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca’s Covishield vaccine, manufactured by Serum Institute of India and the consignment was delivered to the country on 28th January.
