(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – A couple transporting 68 kilos of heroin in a car was arrested by a team of officers from the Matara Divisional Crime Investigation Division today (10) in the Deiyandara Denagama area in Matara.
The raid was carried out on a tip off received by the Matara Divisional Crime Investigation Division, police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
The value of the seized heroin is close to Rs. 700 million, police said. Police also seized the car transporting the heroin.
The arrested man is a 38 year old resident of Katana, Negombo and the woman is a resident of Kandy.
