Sri Lanka reports five COVID-19 deaths Monday, toll rises to 566

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka confirmed five death on Monday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 566, according to health authorities.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed the following death caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 566 by now.

01. The deceased is a 70 year old male resident from Ethulkotte. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments at Colombo National Hospital and transferred to National institute of Infectious Diseases where he died on March 28. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, acute kidney damage and heart disease.

02. The deceased is a 63 year old male resident from Kandana. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments at Mulleriyawa Base Hospital and transferred to Homagama Base Hospital where he died on March 29. The cause of death is mentioned as shock due to blood poisoning associated with Covid pneumonia.

03. The deceased is a 45 year old male resident from Colombo-15. He has died on admission to Colombo National Hospital on March 28. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia and 20-year long heroin use.

04. The deceased is a 55 year old male resident from Kalutara South. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments at Bandaragama Base Hospital and transferred to National institute of Infectious Diseases where he died on February 02. The cause of death is mentioned as chronic liver disease, liver failure and Covid pneumonia.

05. The deceased is a 67 year old male resident from Colombo-15. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments at Colombo National Hospital and transferred to National institute of Infectious Diseases where he died on February 01. The cause of death is mentioned as hemorrhage in brain and Covid pneumonia.
