(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – China’s State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi is scheduled to pay an official visit to Sri Lanka in June, local media reported according to diplomatic sources.
The sources further say that the Chinese Foreign Minister is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka as part of his visit to the Asian region.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi addressed an online meeting last week with foreign ministers of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Afghanistan, where he discussed regional cooperation on the eradication of the Covid epidemic and poverty alleviation.
Wang Yi will become the third senior official to visit Sri Lankan from China in recent months. His visit will follow the Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe’s visit last week.
