Sri Lanka reports over 2500 Covid-19 cases for a third consecutive day, total exceeds131,000

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lanka reported over 2500 daily Covid-19 infections for a third day in a row on Tuesday (May 11).

According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 2,568 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Tuesday. Among the new cases, 2530 are from the New Year Cluster and 38 are foreign arrivals.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report at 11:30 pm, a total of 131,098 COVID-19 cases have been reported and 23,607 infected patients are being treated at hospitals, while 106,641 patients have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Sri Lanka reported 23 deaths due to COVID-19 Tuesday raising the total to 850.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report, so far total of 954,695 people have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 213,953 have received the second dose.
