(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Citizens Development Business Finance PLC lauded as one of the Top Ten Corporate Citizens for Sustainability in Sri Lanka, has come forward to donate Rs. 10 million worth medical equipment urgently required by the Gampaha District General Hospital including ventilators and monitors for its Intensive Care Unit, in addition to other vital equipment.
With a triple bottom line approach integrated into its business strategy, CDB is very aware of its social responsibility as a leading corporate, towards the wellbeing of the nation. The company immediately responded to the urgent request made by Dr Priyantha Illeperuma, Director of District General Hospital Gampaha for medical equipment for the ICU. The company also donated, syringe pumps, infusion pumps, Multipara monitors, and Modified Scuba diving masks to aid the hospital in its efforts against the pandemic.
Last year CDB donated Rs.10Mn towards developing a quarantine center in view of being prepared for a possible spike in COVID cases in Sri Lanka. The funds for the center were presented to Army Commander General Shavendra Silva, the Head of the National Operation Center for Prevention of Covid 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).
Since the outset of the pandemic, CDB has continued to look into the welfare of the community understanding that the impact of the crisis is not limited to businesses alone. A national campaign on safety awareness was carried out by the company, and monetary support was extended to the national effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to this, every branch set out to find deserving families from their respective area to provide them with essential household items in the time of dire need, ensuring no one was left behind.
